Description

Our parting came suddenly - I often wondered why. The hardest part of all? We never said goodbye. Your name means everything, it will never grow old; It is etched on my heart in letters of gold. In this beautifully crafted, carefully balanced volume, Anne Brown touches on what it is to be human - to cry and to laugh - with much sensitivity and originality. Embracing both profundity and the frivolous, some poems literally ache with loss and mourning; others are musical - whimsical, even. With their evocative language and rich themes, there is a poem here to touch everybody. Anne Brown was born in 1954 and was raised in a mining village in the north-east of England. She has been married to Michael for thirty years. Anne and Michael lost their only son in 2002, and this tragic loss inspired some of the poems in Letters of Gold.
