Included are 2 of Tolstoy's smaller compositions on love and belief, as well as his excommunication from the Russian Orthodox Church, and his response to the excommunication. To conclude the volume is a selection of Tolstoy's aphorisms from his various compositions. Tolstoy, apart from being one of the worlds greatest writers, also deals with political, economic, sociological and domestic issues based on his understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in his compositions, including an explanation of the concept of Christian pacifism.
