Description

Jedidiah Leaper was the greatest baseball player to have ever played the game. His greatness is attributed to the fact that he lived longer than anybody else in the 19th and 20thCenturies. He was born on February 29th (a leap day) in 1836 (a leap year) with a unique aging process (1 year to a normal person's 4 years). With that uniqueness his life spanned nearly 170 years. Through those years Jed is taught the game of baseball from his father and as he slowly ages he becomes a great student of the game. Eventually, by the time he reaches his pre-teen years he discovers that he is a terrific baseball player with a blazing fastball, which his youthful teammates called a "Swisher." Thus, because of Jed's ever-youthful appearance he is nicknamed, "Kid Swisher." This is Jed's life's story as he travels through history. It begins with his induction into Baseball's prestigious Hall of Fame. He meets and tells his life story to the lucky author. Jed goes back to his father's love of Rounders and then on to Baseball. As Jed reveals the details of his life he also accentuates the people in his life (mostly his family members) as they experience historical events and circumstances. Even some of the people he meets are those in history. However, mainly, Jed's life story is about the game of baseball from its earliest, humble beginnings. Yet, it is a story of Jed's friends and loved ones as well. All, of course, are woven into an epic tale that takes 4 volumes to tell. Kid Swisher 1 is the first volume and incorporates Jed's early years of life.
