Her interest in new teacher retention started because of her experience starting the school year in the 8th week as a new teacher, going through an alternative certification program, with no mentor or other traditional new teacher support. In addition, she travelled from school to school for one year, in a different school every six weeks. She has personally been the new teacher nine times in her career and brings a personal perspective as a new teacher.
