This family history traces the origins and descendants of John Granbery (b. 1616) of Devonshire, England, who immigrated in 1644 to the now extinct county of Nansemond in far southeastern Virginia. Originally published in 1964, the work is based upon the files of the immigrant ancestor's descendant, Julian Hastings Granbery, and prepared for publication and augmented by his daughter, Alice Granbery Walter. John Granbery, Virginia, will appeal to two groups of researchers. In the first group are students of early Virginia history and genealogy in general and that of Nansemond County in particular.
