El autor fue catedrático por oposición de la Escuela de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de La Habana y en 1960, exiliado en Estados Unidos, fue profesor de la Universidad de New York hasta su retiro en 1976 como Profesor Eméritus. En Cuba fue fundador y presidente de la Sociedad Cubana de Filosofía.

The author was a professor by opposition at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Havana and in 1960, exiled in the United States, was a professor at the University of New York until his retirement in 1976 as Professor Emeritus. In Cuba he was founder and president of the Cuban Society of Philosophy.
