Description
Electromagnetic energy cannot be perceived by human ears, but it is elastically transduced into other energies, such as sound, a mechanical energy. Seeking to detect the presence of electromagnetism and its unfoldings in artistic works and processes, I construct conversations with three other Latin American artists: Gabriela Mureb, Denise Alves-Rodrigues and Constanza Piña. I list some of their contemporary works to analyze, like "Sem TÃtulo (motor)" by Gabriela Mureb, "Treta" by Denise Alves-Rodrigues and "Khipu" by Constanza Piña, and I go on weaving, through a subjective bias, lines of connection between all of them and my artistic work. I extract from there other characteristics and elements in common that go through them, such as the correspondence with political issues (decoloniality, gender the transduction, the presence of sound, and the installation approach. The electromagnetic force is here rethought and then revealed as this inapprehensible energy, which in the words of Constanza Piña, "speaks to us of our origins" and "of life beyond the material".
