Description
A descriptive, prospective, prospective study was carried out with a non-probabilistic sample of 162 nurses from various services of the Provincial University Hospital "Arnaldo Milian Castro" from December 2010 to December 2011 with the purpose of proposing a group of actions to increase the knowledge of the nursing staff related to the care of the central venous catheter, as well as its prevention. The information was obtained by the survey method on central venous catheter care, risk factors, prevention actions and everything related to avoiding sepsis associated with the central venous catheter, documentary observation of the Infection Committee, interviews with nurses and specialists, a literature review and interviews with nursing teachers; the results were qualitatively processed, categorized and presented as a descriptive explanation. The results were processed by percentage and statistical analysis and represented in tables and graphs.
