In the context of national and international changes in education and educational technological advances, this study critically evaluates the influences of digital technologies on teaching and learning in one school, focusing on the introduction of Microsoft Office throughout the school.The literature on the use of Microsoft Office and the nature of change that the implementation of this new educational software is limited. Therefore, a critical evaluation of the introduction of Microsoft Office can provide information on the use of digital technology and applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel; in secondary schools.Evidence points to substantial use of digital technologies by all participants with findings presented under three main themes. Students and teachers were found to use Microsoft Office for content delivery and interaction. Teachers, however, used only the basic features of the software, with limited evidence of teacher participants exploring the innovative teaching and learning potential of the software.
