It brought forth his medieval polemic and literal critics of the Gospel in the hand of the Christians, which he alleged has been corrupted in the hand of the four writers whose name Christians bear, showing the manifest contradiction and historical errors appear in the texts, inconsistent from the revelation sent down to Jesus. Ibn Hazm also concern about the deviation in Islamic tradition represented by the religious sects of the Rafidites and the Shiites and their manifest error and unorthodoxy; departing from the faith of Ahl Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (people of the tradition and the consensus of the ummah) and religious practice and teaching of the salaf (righteous forebears).
