Description

Mr. Finnell, a noted Huguenot authority, is also the Registrar-General of the National Huguenot Society. Clearfield Company, which has also published the National Huguenot Society Bible Records--compiled by Mr. Finnell in 1997--is pleased to offer this revised bibliography of "Huguenot Genealogies." In deciding which books and articles to include in this collection, Mr. Finnell's rule of thumb was to include family histories whose progenitors and early descendants, at least, could be documented as having Huguenot ancestry. Thus, families listed in the 1995 Register of Qualified Huguenot Ancestors of the National Huguenot Society will be represented among the genealogies found in this bibliography. About 700 titles are cited in all, and they are arranged in alphabetical order of the principal family of the genealogy. In each case the citation gives the full title of the work, the author, year and sometimes place of publication, and, in the case of articles from journals, the volume and issue of the periodical. Mr. Finnell is careful to point out that while some of these sources may be difficult to locate, many can be found in large public libraries or in the library of the National Huguenot Society of America in St. Paul, Minnesota, or in the Huguenot Society of South Carolina. (Mr. Finnell welcomes readers' comments in anticipation of future editions of this work.)
