Description

The concept for How Will I Change the World? was birthed out of observing the actions of three people in particular: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai and Mahatma Gandhi. The bustling classroom of first-time author Dahlia DeSouza then turned the themes of "hero," "change-maker" and "leader" towards the students and asked them what they thought was their purpose as young people. This proved to be a difficult task because many students felt incapable of making the positive difference they wanted to because of their size. Through motivation and examples the students started to incorporate a growth mindset and the famous saying, "small but mighty" started to have a positive influence. Every student thought long and hard about their purpose. This seemingly simple question of purpose proved to be of great importance as it paved the way for everyone to gain confidence and to believe in themselves while becoming young authors.
