This is not a history of Umbro nor of the sport of football (aka soccer). There are some background elements relevant to the development of the sport, but the stories here are the author`s recollections, many stimulated by other members of the Umbro team, of experiences during the wonderful growth years of Umbro USA, from the late 1970s through the early-1990s. There is focus on some of the lighter moments and no doubt other members of the team have additional stories to tell, but to quote one former US manager, "It says something that after working for 35 years, most of my fun stories come from my days at Umbro."
