In February 2019, Bruce Masters reached out to J.K. Rowling, offering her the chance to collaborate with him on a book he had written about her.
This is the story of the two authors' communication over a 14-day period as documented in Masters' diary. What started out as a mutually beneficial proposal resulted in tense email exchanges culminating in an impasse with an acrimonious Rowling refusing to negotiate.
The resultant book uncovers the workings of Rowling's legal machine and documents a very unexpected case of mistaken identity along with confusing, amusing and surprising emails, a confusing web of contacts and much more-with a few light-hearted tips thrown in for good measure.
