The study is devoted to a capital work by the outstanding Hungarian composer of our time, György Kurtág. The author marks the main milestones of the composer's creative path against the background of the general picture of musical life in Hungary in the second half of the twentieth century and defines the place and significance of the cycle Games in his creative biography. The work under study is examined from different positions: both from the point of view of its application of the main modern compositional methods, stylistic modeling of the musical art of past epochs, and from the perspective of the creative evolution of György Kurtág himself.
