Description
Sewn together with the hem of an A-line dress splattered in spaghetti sauce, this collection of memories presents the reader with a profound image of growing up in the '50s and '60s, of getting married amid rocky circumstances, and of being a woman during those times. It reveals a more personal look at the sexism then (as opposed to the sexism now), as well as the mindset of women and how they coped with that nonsense. It is about body image, about insecurity, about getting over some of that insecurity but always living with it, about shitty husbands, and about pretty good ones, and sometimes just about ice cream.
