Description

"Joy's Book" is a series of humorous and tender stories about the different fears and difficulties that children have in the early years of their lives, such as the one they feel before a brother or sister arrives, the one of going through the bathtub hole when water is removed, the death of a loved one, etc. There are no limits to imagination and anything is possible by following the narrative logic of the initial problem. All stories are made from the children's point of view and the dramatic content of the situations they face is accurately reflected in them. In the story "Get out, ghosts!", the girl, after her grandfather's recent death, begins to see ghosts in her room and doesn't know how to react to this. She is more and more scared until she tells her parents. Her father then explains to her what it is about and how she should act and she confronts them and they disappear. The story deals with the development of the duel for the death of a loved one in the context of the more than common ghosts fear experienced by children. The protagonist understands and manages her emotions, which means a leap in his growth process.A dramatic book that combines two crucial themes in childhood: grief and fear of ghosts from the point of view of the protagonist girl. Julio Millares won the Vargas Llosa Prize for novels and the Imaginaria Prize for children's stories. He lived in Brazil, Italy, France, Mexico and Sweden before returning to his native Argentina. He is a professor at the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Cuyo.
