Congratulations! You have got a ticket to our show! Let us transport you to different times and changing worlds as you journey with us through stories old and new. You will taste variety and vibrancy in the joy of expertly spun yarns breathing life into our Scottish storytelling traditions.

The Burgh Blatherers is an Edinburgh based group with a relatively short but vibrant history. They started as a small group of like-minded friends coming together informally to practise and share stories in a safe and supportive environment. These mutually supportive gatherings were given a sense of focus and direction when dynamic storyteller, Calum Lykan launched a series of successful "Open Mic" sessions upstairs at Edinburgh's Waverley Bar, a venue with a long and continuing reputation for supporting the traditional arts. Members of the original group were quick to attend these early sessions and shortly afterwards the name "Burgh Blatherers" was first mooted and adopted.
They like to think that their ethos and values are reflected in the shows that they perform on a very regular basis - that include the full variety of stories from the oral tradition, whether personal recollection, historical, self-penned or folk and traditional. They have reproduced just such a "show" within the pages of "From the Burgh and Beyond", our members' first joint venture into print and our modest contribution to Scotland's "Year of Stories".
