Description

1909. Tarbell is best known as being one of the original muckrakers for her role in her book, The History of the Standard Oil Company, played in helping to shut down the Standard Oil monopoly. She is also recognized for the Life of Abraham Lincoln. This small volume begins: Kindhearted? Mr. Lincoln kindhearted? I don't believe a man ever lived who'd rather seen everybody happy and peaceable than Abraham Lincoln. He never could stand it to have people sufferin' or not gettin' what they wanted. Time and time again I've seen him go taggin' up street here in this town after some youngster that was blubberin' because he couldn't have what wa'n't good for him. Seemed as if he couldn't rest till that child was smilin' again. See other titles by this author available from Kessinger Publishing.
