Since every investigator desires to understand the "basic principles" underlying every new phenomenon, the author is impelled to disclose important facts divulged to him; and these facts are understated rather than exaggerated. Nor does he shrink from the censure or odium which some may heap upon him for his temerity in undertaking to investigate these mysteries and publish the facts.
