Description
Seeking refuge in a cold, strange barn and in a fever-induced confusion, Meagan believed she was face-to-face with her deranged and dangerous ex-fiancé, Jeremy. She was sure he had finally tracked her down with the intent to kill her, and she knew she was too weak to fight. But she summoned her remaining strength; and feeding off her bold spirit and enduring nature, Meagan reached into the pocket of her drenched parka. With a trembling hand, she took out her stiletto knife, raised the weapon, and released the lethal blade. Meagan struggled to see the man she thought had come to end her life.
"Drop the knife or I will shoot you!" Josh shouted and aimed his .45 caliber at the center of the trespasser's chest. Adding insult to injury, the intruder's hood hung down over their eyes and their coat was zipped well above their chin. "Stop! I said stop right there!" Josh repeatedly ordered to no avail. Just one more step, he thought and increased the pressure on the trigger.
On the brink of shooting someone threatening him with a knife, Josh shouted his final warning. "Drop the knife or you are going to die!" Terrified for her life, seriously ill, and unable to focus, Meagan did the only thing she felt she had to do in order to survive.
