Description

The material for this project is intended to facilitate the study of the book Roman Catholics and Evangelicals: Agreements and Differences by Norman Geisler and Ralph MacKenzie. It was presented to a group of people, followed by a nine-question evaluation in the form of a retrospective post-then-pre survey design because it is a popular way to assess learners' self-reported changes in knowledge, awareness, skills, confidence, attitudes, or behaviors. The open letter to a Roman Catholic is intended to provide a starting dialog with practicing Roman Catholics about the doctrinal areas in which they both agree and disagree with Evangelical Protestants. It is my experience that many Roman Catholics sound more like Evangelical Protestants in the practice of their faith than they do Roman Catholics. They love Jesus and believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. The intent, as always with a civil dialogue, is to discuss truth that is based upon biblical Scripture, in hopes that reconciliation over the differences may occur based upon that truth search. The assumption of this open letter is that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the only source of authority for Christians to follow in the practice of their faith.
