In 1967, the series got underway and went for 100 episodes until 1970. This book documents all the episodes in the 1967-70 series, with original air dates, photographs, and story synopses. The story started with the classical theme music, followed by narration which stated the story was true (based on fact) and the names of people were changed "to protect the innocent." Webb then narrated "This is the city, Los Angeles, California..." He usually gave the date, time, and weather conditions. Webb's no-nonsense, fast talking dialgue became an iconic part of the show. Along with partner Bill Gannon, played by harry Morgan, the police were shown as working-class heroes. The show always ended with the guilty party being put on trial, and the results of the trial.
