Miss Agnes Nor-man was too preoccupied during the few waking hours she spent at home to return more than an abstracted "Indeed?" to Charlotte's information, and Dickie, being but six years of age, could not be expected to enter into and comprehend his aunt's outraged sensibilities.
The disturbing fact was that certain parties had had the audacity to put up a very unattractive two-story flat-building directly across the street from the old Norman homestead.
