Description

The inside story of the General Motors' radical Styling Studio set up and regime created by Harley Earl. How the Oldsmobile Toronado, America's radical front wheel drive personal luxury car was designed and developed, told by a member of the design team.

With the Toronado design story will be a description of the program that included two other cars that were developed as part of the GM E-Car Program, the 1966 Buick Riviera and the 1967 Cadillac Eldorado . The program was complex and challenging and at risk was a great deal of investment by General Motors. The challenge for William L. Mitchell, the Vice President of Styling, was that each, all three, would have to be star quality. They did, as history has shown.
