A retired Chicago homicide detective, Ragan Yoder, moved to a home on the lake where he grew up and spent his formative years. Quite by accident, he meets and then falls for a lovely nurse who saves his life in an accident and changes his life dramatically. As soon as one pair of criminals pay for their crimes, another pops up and leads Ragan on a roller coaster pursuit that takes him and his lady into the Carribean and even up the Amazon to Manaus, Brazil. When his lady is in danger, he returns her favor and saves her life. There are many unforseen twists and turns in the story, incidents that challenge him, his lady, his friends, and even his associates in the sheriff's office in Kosciusko county, Indiana.
