Commander Jack Sanderson is held in Moscow's notorious Lubyanka prison on espionage charges before being sentenced to serve time in Siberia. He believes his cover was blown by information given to the Russians by Matthew Johnson. Rudi and Jack are thrown together in a cattle truck on the train bound for a gulag in the far east of the USSR. Their destination is never reached as fire breaks out and they escape in the chaotic aftermath into a wasteland of snow and ice. Determined to escape the USSR and with the help of a local girl who Rudi falls in love with they make plans not knowing the deadly consequences and trail of destruction that they provoke from those who seek to stop them. Evil men who will stop at nothing, both in America and London.
