Description
Wayne Carr has been writing poetry since schooldays, his practice both interrupted and enhanced by a career in English teaching, he believing that poetry should be of use, recording family and social events such as birthdays, friendships and deaths as well as events in wider society.
Corona Times & Other Climes is his first collection and brings together two groups of poems, the first mainly written under the spell of the Corona blight. This group essentially follows the seasons as events unfolded and records not only the impact of the virus itself but also the social stresses and fissures those years exposed. More wonderfully, they also record the benign presence of Nature with its redeeming and healing powers, the uplift of which many others felt during this trying time.
The Other Climes section was written before Covid and serves to remind us all that there are worlds beyond Covid and Life for all its waywardness is ever giving.
