She came to London at the age of 12 and regards herself as a Scottish Londoner. She began writing poetry in Katherine Gallagher's workshop at the age of 70 and in 2007 John Rety published her pamphlet 'Woman in Winter' (Hearing Eye). These poems mostly in free verse, are full of voice and speak loud from the page.
