Isabel Allende - ( g. 1942 ) daugybe literatūrinių apdovanojimų apdovanota bei skaitytojų pripažinta rašytoja iš Čilės, jau ilgą laiką gyvenanti JAV. Parašiusi virš 20 knygų, kurios išverstos į daugiau nei 35 užsienio kalbas. Lietuviams labiausiai pažįstama iš tokių kūrinių kaip "Dvasių namai", "Žaidimas su mirtimi" ar "Majos dienoraštis".

Isabel Allende yra įgijusi žurnalistės išsilavinimą ir dar gyvendama Čilėje dirbo įvairiuose žurnaluose. Pirmieji rašytiniai jos kūriniai buvo skirti vaikams, o pirmasis jos romanas pasirodė 1982.  Norintiems sužinoti daugiau šios rašytojos biografinių elementų teks skaityti jos knygas, nes viešai rašytoja nemėgsta pasakoti savo gyvenimo, tačiau knygose dažnai rasime jos pačios išgyventų įvykių.

Beja, Isabel Allende turi tradiciją visus savo romanus, kuriuos rašo pradėti rašyti sausio 8 d. Smalsu kodėl? Nes, 1981 sausio 8 d., ji sulaukė skambučio, kuriuo jai buvo pranešta apie mirštantį senelį. Ji tą pačią dieną pradėjo rašyti jam laišką, kuris vėliau tapo jos pirmuoju romanu "Dvasių namai" ir atnešė jai pasaulinę šlovę.
