Looking back at American history, the American Indians were a warrior society that posed many asymmetrical challenges for European and American militaries. In particular, their individual skills, methods of fighting, and societal culture produced asymmetries that are still relevant today. This paper examines these particular aspects, determines successful counters to these asymmetries in the American Indian experience, and posits potential implications for today.
