Description

The World Health Organization has characterized "work-related" diseases as multifactorial to indicate that a number of risk factors (e.g., physical, work organizational, psychosocial, and socio-cultural) contribute to causing these diseases. One important reason for the controversy surrounding work-related MSDs is their multifactorial nature. The disagreement centers on the relative importance of multiple and individual factors in the development of disease. The same controversy has been an issue with other medical conditions such as certain cancers and lung disorders - both of which have multiple causal factors (occupational and non-occupational). The objective of the study is to assess the linkage if any, MSD and occupational stress with reference to their body mass index category in human resources occupationally engaged in mining sector. Information about age (year), and economic status was collected. Physical parameters- stature (cm) and weight (kg) was measured and with the help of those measurements Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated. Body part discomfort was assessed using Body part discomfort scale by Corlett and posture will be assessed by using RULA technique.
