Description

The study was conducted in the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Cameroon during the dry season between March and July 2017. Its objective was to analyse the fodder marketing system in the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Cameroon, focusing on the towns of Maroua and Guider. The methodological approach adopted consisted firstly of bibliographic research on the definitions of key concepts and notions and the collection of information. The survey was carried out in three stages: sampling, surveys by questionnaires and interviews. The survey was then carried out among 141 respondents, 86 in Maroua and 55 in Guider. The fodder marketed in Maroua and Guider comes from peri-urban areas with a multitude of sales points. The study revealed that the marketing of fodder is a financially profitable activity, a wholesaler can earn an average of 79815 to 195215FCFA per month, a collector 110100 to 147100FCFA and a reseller 66775 to 208365FCFA, but it is necessary that the actors of this sector get together to better organise and ensure its sustainability.
