Description

If you're a fan of common sense and appreciate easy reading about life, love, marriage, politics and religion, this book fills the bill. Grab your favorite hot beverage, find a comfortable chair and settle in for an entertaining read.

A native of Montana Cal Richardson graduated from high school, joined the U. S. Navy and retired after 30 years of active duty. Upon retirement and entering college he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. A life of writing has resulted in an accumulation of stories, poems, and opinion pieces based on his personal experiences. A lover of history, travel, and a good story he has brought together a collection of articles that encompass philosophy, humor, and personal insight. Much of what he has written comes from advice and opinions shared with his children and grandchildren. Many of the short stories were written for family and friends. Repeatedly advised to write a book by his professors, friends, and family this is a product of that advice.

The first section is a collection of short, pithy, foundational concepts about making decisions regarding love, marriage, religion, and politics that come from the heart of a person who might be your neighbor, your barber, or your children's teacher. Everybody has an opinion, and it's time to realize that quite often the guy next door is as astute about the function of government, how to manage a family, and the difference between doing something right and just doing something as your Senator or Representative, your mayor, your doctor or your pastor. Part two includes several short and entertaining stories with a hint of mysticism that can make a lazy afternoon's reading a pleasure. The culmination is a chronicle of the realization of a lifelong dream of traveling about the country in a camper just for the fun of it. Traveling to known and little known places with a spouse who considers "camping" to be roughing it at the beach at the Holiday Inn.

After reading the book you may find that you've gained an additional perspective on subjects that are part and parcel of your everyday life. Sometimes you will agree, and other times you may disagree. You will smile at times, and sometimes you'll laugh. There will be moments of joy and a bit of sadness. It may prompt you to evaluate your relationships with family, friends and co-workers, but you will be entertained. Best of all, you may be inspired to put your own opinions and stories into a book of your own.
