One of the biggest problems of the online learning systems is con-cerned with the way of offering adaptive education to each particular student. In this context, some of the Artificial Intelligence techniques as the multiagent systems, have demonstrated a potential to develop interactive systems for education since they introduce a new instruc-tive paradigm based on the concept of shared skills and cooperative learning between human beings and computers. This book proposes the use of intelligent agents to assist students to develop learning activities in very attractive and personalized educa-tional scenarios. The adaptation criteria to offer personalized didactic contents, feedback and artificial assistence during a learning session is based on student learning styles, cognitive states, and knowledge levels. The agents environment is built by means of a multiagent archi-tecture designed to support adaptivity in a hypermedia education system used for distance learning on the web. This proposal is especially useful to professionals of education who want to verify that the well used ICT technology may improve learning and complement the face to face classroom strategies.
